EAA Services for Guests with Disabilities at AirVenture

Welcome

EAA is dedicated to providing access and services to guests with disabilities in an effort to assure that every guest has a safe, comfortable and enjoyable experience at EAA® AirVenture® Oshkosh™ (“AirVenture”). ADA access is available to all AirVenture venues, including the EAA Aviation Museum™.

For more information about event access or services, please call (800) 564-6322 or e-mail membership@eaa.org. Additional information is available on the AirVenture map and event app available at www.EAA.org/app.

Parking

ADA accessible parking is available in the D Lot on a first come, first served basis. A current, valid state-issued disability parking permit, placard or identification is required. Standard parking pass rates apply.

Camping

Located adjacent to the convention grounds, Camp Scholler has designated camping areas for guests with disabilities, as well as 24-hour auxiliary generator needs. A limited number of sites with electric and water hookups are available for an additional fee. Sites are allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. At least one person in each camping unit must be an EAA member. EAA Memberships are available at the Camp Scholler entrance.

Aircraft Parking and Camping

Upon arrival, please display your disabled permit, placard or identification along with the arrival sign (found in the EAA AirVenture Oshkosh NOTAM) so ground personnel can direct you to the appropriate area. Designated aircraft camping accommodations for guests with disabilities are available in the North 40 as well as in the homebuilt camping area.

Shuttle Routes

Every on-site shuttle route on the EAA grounds including Camp Scholler, convention grounds, and aircraft parking has at least one ADA accessible vehicle that accommodates various types of wheelchairs and electric conveyance vehicles.

Mobility Devices and Convention Rentals

Single-rider Electric Conveyance Vehicles (ECVs) specifically designed for those with mobility disabilities are allowed on convention grounds and can be rented near the Main Admission Gate from Vista Mobility Inc. at (262) 677-2696. Or by making a reservation online at www.vistamobility.net. For more information on rentals, contact Vista Mobility Inc. at (262) 677-2696. Other electronic personal assistance mobility devices, such as Segways®, are also allowed on convention grounds when required because of an individual’s mobility disability. Some of the grounds may be difficult for ECVs and other electronic personal assistance mobility devices to navigate as some areas are grass or gravel covered. All mobility devices must be operated at normal walking speed. Only one guest at a time is allowed to sit or stand, as applicable, on an ECV or other electronic personal assistance mobility device. Violations of the rules for the safe operation of mobility devices will result in the inability to use the mobility device on convention grounds.

Note: Individually owned or rented automobiles, golf carts, motorcycles, motorbikes, motor scooters, mopeds, hoverboards, unicycles, bicycles and all-terrain vehicles are, due to safety requirements and concerns, not recognized as authorized mobility devices for guests with mobility disabilities and are not allowed on convention grounds for that purpose. Campgrounds are not considered convention grounds and have different rules for the use of the above listed vehicles and devices. Please contact member services for additional information.

OPDMD Assessment and Sticker Locations

If you are seeking to use an Other Power-Driven Mobility Device (OPDMD) on AirVenture grounds that is not a single-seat personal electronic conveyance vehicle, then the OPDMD must be reviewed and approved by EAA’s security personnel prior to it being brought onto AirVenture grounds. The OPDMD can be reviewed by EAA Security, who will issue a sticker when appropriate, at the following locations (see map here):

  1. Main Gate Admission (Gate 30)
  2. Ultralight Admission Gate (Gate 23)
  3. Warbirds Admission Gate
  4. EAA Security and Dispatch and Communications Center (1465 Schaick Ave.)

Please note that EAA reserves the right, when appropriate, to request that the individual seeking to use the OPDMD show credible assurance, as defined by the ADA, that the individual needs the device because of the individual’s mobility disability.

Service Animals

EAA follows ADA guidelines regarding service animals. The ADA defines service animals as dogs or miniature horses that are individually trained to do work or perform tasks for people with disabilities. The specific work or task an animal has been trained to provide must be directly related to a person’s disability. Animals whose sole function is to provide comfort or emotional support do not qualify as service animals according to the ADA. Therefore, emotional support animals are not permitted on convention grounds or in any EAA facilities. Service animals must remain on a leash or in a harness and under the control of the owner at all times. Emotional support animals and other pets, including dogs, are allowed in campgrounds and at the Seaplane Base, excluding in the water. Please contact member services for additional information

Restrooms

ADA accessible and wheelchair accessible restrooms, hand washing stations, and showers designed for use by guests with mobility disabilities are available throughout the EAA grounds including Camp Scholler, convention grounds, and aircraft parking and camping.

ADA Accessible Ticket Counters

ADA accessible ticket counters are available for use in key locations around the grounds, including Main Gate Admissions, North 40, and camper and showplane registration.

If special accessible transportation is required, please stop at the bus park area near the Main Admission Gate or call (920) 230-7932.
