AirVenture Aircraft Parking Updates

This report was posted August 1, 2024.

Field Status:
Wittman Regional Airport has thousands of "ghost airplanes," traced in the grass by the footsteps of AirVenture attendees.  The field will gradually recover and eventually be covered by winter snows.  Spring 2025 will bring fresh grass, waiting for the return of airplanes from around the world.

General Aviation Camping and Parking Areas:

The combined North Forty and South Forty General Aviation Camping areas and General Aviation Parking areas remained open for the duration of AirVenture 2024.

Showplane Areas:
Showplane areas that accommodate experimentals (homebuilts), warbirds, production aircraft manufactured prior to 1971, ultralights, and amphibian aircraft also remained open for the duration of AirVenture 2024.

Transient Helicopter Operations

The intention of the transient helicopter parking area is for our guest that will be parking and visit the event for a day or several days. If your intention is to make several operations per day, the following procedures will need to be followed:

  • No local operations. Local operations are defined as any flight that remains within 10 nm of OSH and does not make a landing at another location.
  • If you plan to conduct multiple operations from transient helicopter parking within a 24 hour period, precoordination is required with EAA Air Ops (Boyd Martin) at 386-453-7960.

Next planned update to this page: July, 2025.  See you then!
