Parking and Camping Updates for AirVenture 2025

In 2025, EAA AirVenture Oshkosh is responding to member and visitor feedback by making some additions and upgrades to the camping and vehicle parking areas. These additions are designed to accomplish several goals:

  • Moving drive-in campers from less desirable locations to areas closer to the flightline.
  • Creating additional easy-access vehicle parking for those attendees who drive in for the day.
  • Helping move vehicle traffic into and out of the site more smoothly.

A new area named Camp Scholler Southeast debuts in 2025, just south of Ripple Road and west of Knapp Street (see map). This camping area is designed for easy walking access to flightline entry through a new Gate SB and admissions center just south of the Fun Fly Zone in the Ultralights area, with plenty of shuttles that will connect to the entire AirVenture flightline and tram system.

The new area also takes camping out of an area wedged between Interstate 41 and the Camp Scholler departure gate and dump station, and it provides wider internal traffic lanes and more pleasant surroundings.

That former camping area will become the new Purple Auto Parking Lot, remaining faithful to the color-coded vehicle parking lot system at AirVenture. This 4,400-space lot will allow faster parking and access off I-41 and Poberezny Road. Continual shuttles will carry attendees from the lot to the new Gate SB admissions area.

“As we look at the growth of the event and the grounds, we work to accommodate everyone,” said Jim Busha, EAA vice president. “Campers who spend an extended time here have priority for easy access to the flightline, while we want to maintain the most efficient in-and-out possible for those attendees who drive to the grounds each day.

“All of this means AirVenture will be adding to its already robust shuttle services from these areas to carry people to the flightline,” he said. “That includes the addition of continual shuttles on Ripple Road that will service those in the Purple Lot, Camp Scholler’s Ripple North and South campgrounds, as well as those in the new Camp Scholler Southeast area, if they desire.”
