Greetings fellow aviation enthusiasts,
At my home airport, Lyncrest (CJL5), just outside of Winnipeg, the snow had melted and the grass runways were drying nicely. That is, until Mother Nature decided that March should go out like a lion – with a snowstorm on March 28, followed by a week of sunny but below normal temperatures. A temporary setback, but not for long!
Please understand that I write this a couple weeks before Bits and Pieces is published. I was advised that a couple of weeks prior, EAA sent a letter to the U.S. Congress asking for tariff exemptions on aerospace parts. My understanding is that right now, aerospace and aviation components are exempt, but we're in a fluid environment. We never know when a thunderstorm will pop up and we have to divert!
Some of you have expressed your decision to "take a pass" on AirVenture this year. We respect your personal choice. However, for those who still plan to attend, we are gearing up for a great week! We do have several Canadian aviation businesses committed to have a booth in the Canadian Pavilion, Global will still sponsor the Canadian breakfast, EAA will sponsor our welcome BBQ on Sunday at our camping area (open to all Canadians regardless of where you're staying), as well as the Ice Cream Social at the Canadian Pavilion on Thursday.
While you still have time to decide on attending AirVenture, right until the week of July 21-27, we do have a deadline to determine our space needs for Canadian group camping. Please complete this form Canadian Camping @ AirVenture 2025, contact Phil at chapters.eaacc@gmail.com, or call 613-790-4929 by May 20.
Drop me a line with your thoughts. We're always looking for newsletter article ideas. And don't hesitate to let us know about any aviation issues you may be experiencing. We have a small but knowledgeable and well-connected advocacy team.
