North 40 Pedestrian Gate Changes for AirVenture 2025

Wittman Regional Airport has implemented some changes for EAA AirVenture 2025 at pedestrian gates that access the North 40 aircraft camping area. These changes were made by the Winnebago County-owned airport’s management to better manage pedestrian flow into the North 40 from outside the airport, and reduce runway incursions by pedestrians that have occurred in recent years. EAA annually leases the airport property for our activities and aircraft parking/camping during AirVenture.

For 2025, the following changes have been implemented:

  • Gate 38 (near the North 40 shower house along Knapp Street)
  • Gate 41 (commonly known as the “Friar Tuck’s Gate” off South Park Avenue)

These entrances will now have gate codes to open the gate. Those codes will be distributed to all North 40 campers upon registration. In addition, signs with the code will be visible for all those exiting the North 40 at those gates.

  • Gate 40 – Pedestrian gate near the corner of South Park Avenue and Koeller Street

This gate will be closed and will not allow access into or out of the North 40.

Those camping or parked in the North 40 may also access the area from outside the airport through the pedestrian gate at the Wittman Regional Airport terminal/Basler Flight Service. Shuttle buses run throughout the day on the internal perimeter road to transport attendees to all North 40 aircraft parking areas and to the flightline gates.
