EAA Celebrates Recognized 2024 Chapters

July 2025 — Congratulations to all the EAA chapters that earned Gold, Silver, or Bronze recognition levels for 2024! Each of the recognized chapters have displayed outstanding commitment to EAA by growing participation in aviation, as well as showing a desire to improve themselves using EAA-provided resources.

In total, 208 EAA chapters were recognized in 2024: 122 Gold, 35 Silver, and 51 Bronze. Throughout 2024, chapters earned these recognition levels by having growing or steady membership, attending chapter leadership training, hosting multiple public events, participating in EAA programs such as Young Eagles and IMC/VMC Clubs, having an EAA Technical Counselor and/or Flight Advisor on hand, and much more. Chapters that showed a high level of engagement in these activities were recognized via the Chapter Recognition program.

About Chapter Recognition

The EAA Chapter Recognition program is designed to recognize EAA chapters that have demonstrated outstanding commitment to general aviation. It is based off 10 criteria that are correlated with active and engaged chapters.

There are 10 Chapter Recognition criteria, each worth one point:

1. Attends a chapter leadership training session (academy, boot camp, or virtual boot camp)
2. Growing or steady membership
3. Offers IMC or VMC Club programs
4. Participates in Young Eagles or Flying Start programs
5. Has EAA-approved Flight Advisor or Technical Counselor
6. Participates in EAA's Annual Chapter Member survey
7. Participates in Young Eagles Build and Fly, Young Eagles Workshops, sends a youth to EAA’s Air Academy, or has an EAA Ray Aviation scholar pass their checkride
8. Requests an EAA ChapterBlast email
9. Hosts at least two public events each year
10. Owns/leases a facility

In addition, each chapter can earn up to three extra credit points for activities not covered by the main recognition criteria. These activities include (but are not limited to) chapter aircraft build or restoration projects (including youth build projects), chapter tool cribs, chapter-sponsored scholarships that are separate from the EAA Ray Aviation Scholarship, IAC competitions for EAA’s IAC chapters, and more. We offer this extra credit opportunity because we recognize that not every chapter activity may be covered by the main recognition criteria.

A chapter can obtain the Bronze level of recognition by receiving seven points, Silver by receiving eight points, and Gold by receiving nine or more points.
