David Gevers

David, EAA Lifetime 151342, has a master’s degree in mechanical engineering, associate’s degree in aviation technology, A&P rating with an IA (over 40 years), CFIA – land and sea, CFII, commercial – airplane, helicopter, glider, single-engine, and multi-engine ratings. He lives on and manages an airport in a fly-in community (31IN) in Lafayette, Indiana. He has owned the same Cessna 140 since 1972 and maintains a personal aviation library of over 2,800 books on aircraft and flight. David has test flown several aircraft in Phase 1 using the Additional Pilot Program as a “qualified pilot.” He and his family have attended 40 consecutive EAA convention fly-ins and he is the sole inventor on three aircraft design patents. David has been a judge of homebuilts at AirVenture for 8 years. He is an EAA flight advisor and technical counselor. He is currently VP of EAA Chapter 256. David is an industry advisor to Purdue University’s Aeronautical Engineering Technology department. With over 3,700 hours of flight time in 94 different aircraft models, including 13 different models of homebuilts. David met his wife Theresa 41 years ago as he was her flight instructor.
