Dave Nelson
Dave NelsonDave Nelson has been an active pilot and aircraft builder since 1977. An EAA Lifetime member, Dave has been active in building and flying canard aircraft since graduating from the University of Minnesota with a degree in electrical engineering. He retired from IBM as a director of engineering in 2016, with a career mostly involving integrated circuit and microprocessor design, and engineering management.
Dave has always been fascinated with canard type aircraft, and has built, rebuilt, participated in the build, and raced most canard types (including the VariEze, LongEze Cozy 3 and 4 place, and Velocity types). He is currently passing 1900 hours in his Velocity RG and still loving every minute of it.
As a past president of his local EAA chapter, and as current chair of the EAA's Homebuilt Aircraft Council, Dave has always been passionate about the homebuilt aircraft community. Dave is currently residing in Southwest Florida.
