Dan Berry
Longmont, Colorado
Dan is a Mechanical Engineer, experienced aircraft builder and mentor, bringing his lifelong passion for aviation (rooted in hands-on expertise across wood, metal, and fabric aircraft) to the Council. He earned his Glider rating at age 15, achieved his Private at age 16, and received his Instrument and Seaplane ratings later. From helping build an Emeraude, to landing on the cover of Sport Aviation with his grandfather, he has received many awards. These awards include workmanship trophies at the Copper State and the Rocky Mountain Regional fly-ins for his RV-6, and an AirVenture 2012 Bronze Lindy for his Legend Cub. Dan has demonstrated and dedicated his life to craftsmanship, safety, and education in experimental aviation. He recently received the FAA Wright Brothers Master Pilot Award. Dan is a lifetime EAA member, held past chapter officer positions, sat on multiple municipal Airport Boards and directed Airport Expos. His EAA and aviation passion inspired a BSME aerospace engineering career, which led to design engineering on NASA’s James Webb Space Telescope, Kepler, and the Hubble repair mission. He now serves as an EAA Technical Counselor, guiding numerous local builders and mentoring the next generation through youth aviation programs.
