Young Eagles Online Registration Updates — Closing of Phase 3
By EAA Staff
The latest production push for the Young Eagles Online Registration tool was completed the second week of August. This deployment included the refinement of the cancel/reschedule event process and the long-awaited update to the Assign Pilots tab!
Updated training videos have been produced and are available for review and download here.
To ensure all updates take effect, it is recommended that users clear their browser cache. Each browser is unique, but it is typically found under the browser history section.
With this latest update, users will see the following updates to the Assign Pilots tab:
- Return to a side-by-side view of pilots and youths.
- Better display of pilot/aircraft info including seats, tail number, and weight limit.
- Ability to view all timeslots or filter by specific timeslots. This includes assigning across multiple timeslots.
- Filtering and sorting of youth by name, timeslot, and check-in status.
- Preview of youth flight history.
Other phase 3 development included the following:
- Added preregistration report information such as event capacity using pilots confirmed x aircraft capacity x number of flights, confirmed volunteers, etc.
- Updated the registration page to include the number of seats remaining in each timeslot.
- Updated logic of “reopening” registration when youths are on the waitlist, and slots become open due to cancelations/expanding slot limits. If the number of youths on the waitlist plus youths on the registered list meet or exceed the registration limits, the event will not automatically reopen, so that admins can manually move waitlisted youths onto the registered list.
- Added additional fields to the top of the Check-In/Print tab to provide more context on youths assigned/waivers signed.
- Updated the sizing of the Flight Certificate PDF, so that it fits the EAA provided certificate stock more seamlessly.
- Updated the system-generated emails that are sent to Young Eagles coordinators when a parent submits a question. The link within that email will not take users directly to the reply section of the email functions tab. If you need to log in first, the site will redirect you to the email functions.
This August update concluded phase 3 development, but the work is not completed. In the past few weeks, EAA has begun scoping out phase 4, which will include a bit of new functionality requested by chapters, as well as the inclusion of additional event types (Young Eagles Workshops, Young Eagles Build, generic chapter youth events, Flying Start, etc.)
There is plenty more to do, but I hope you are beginning to see the evolution of the online registration tool.
