Young Eagles Updates From HQ

  • David Leiting, EAA Eagle Programs Manager, EAA Lifetime 579157

The month of May always signals the true kickoff to peak Young Eagles flying season. Our friends from the southern latitudes really spool up in March, and by the time we get to May, the northern latitudes are beginning to take part in the Young Eagles fun.

With the increased flight activity, as well as the continued transition to the new Young Eagles Online Registration Tool, the Young Eagles office is busier than ever. We strive to get back to all our phone calls and emails within 48 hours, but during this peak season it may take just a tad longer.

As we creep toward summer, that also means that EAA AirVenture Oshkosh is right around the corner! This year, we are upping the ante and looking to bring even more Young Eagles activity to the convention. This year, Tuesday, July 22 will be Young Eagles Day at AirVenture. The goal is to grow this day and what it offers to volunteers in future years.

  • The Young Eagles Volunteer Banquet is scheduled for Tuesday, July 22, and new for 2025, EAA is introducing a Young Eagles Volunteer Breakfast on Tuesday, July 22. Full details on those events can be found here.
  • There will be a forum on the new Young Eagles Online Registration tool on Tuesday, July 22 at 11:30 a.m. in the EAA Blue Barn.
  • EAA Young Eagles volunteer pilots can enter daily to win a Lightspeed headset. Simply stop by the EAA Blue Barn to enter for your chance to win.
  • The Young Eagles display at the EAA Blue Barn will be expanded in 2025, and your chapter is invited to stop by and pledge its participation in the program throughout the remainder of 2025.
  • The EAA Blue Barn is still looking for dedicated chapter and Young Eagles volunteers. You can see openings and select your slots here.

As always — THANK YOU for your continued support of the Young Eagles program. I continue to be amazed by the volunteer support and passion, and it is what fuels us at EAA HQ. I hope to see you in Oshkosh this July!
