Enhanced Volunteer Appreciation Events at EAA AirVenture Oshkosh
By David Leiting, EAA Eagles Program Manager
The Young Eagles Volunteer Banquet has become a staple of the Oshkosh experience for many Young Eagles volunteers. Through 2019, this event was held in the EAA Eagle Hangar. However, following 2020 (we all remember what happened that year…), the event was moved to the EAA Founders’ Wing for a variety of reasons including exorbitant expenses and limited space availability. The move greatly reduced the capacity of the event and left many Young Eagles volunteers without a chance to attend.
I am thrilled to announce that EAA is now introducing the Young Eagles Volunteer Breakfast, which will be held on the morning of Tuesday, July 22.
The intent of the breakfast is to offer an equivalent experience to the Young Eagles Banquet. Volunteers will have the opportunity to attend either the banquet or the breakfast — not both. With this approach, EAA will be able to accommodate nearly double the volunteers. We kindly ask that couples or close friends do not take advantage of the system to attend both events. In the spirit of these events, we want to accommodate as many volunteers as possible.
Although the two events will be similar, the programing will be slightly different. Some volunteers may even prefer breakfast, as it will be held in the Partner Resource Center, which is conveniently located on the main convention grounds.
Young Eagles coordinators and active Young Eagles pilots can expect to see the invites in their email inbox the first week of June.
