EAA to host Teacher Open House event for regional educators on September 26
Youth Education Center and museum to feature hands-on STEM activities
EAA AVIATION CENTER, OSHKOSH, Wisconsin — (September 17, 2024) — Educators for grades K-12 in eastern Wisconsin can get an exclusive inside look at the opportunities available at EAA’s Youth Education Center and the EAA Aviation Museum as the organization hosts a free Teacher Open House event from 4 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, September 26.
Educators are encouraged to enter through the EAA Youth Education Center, where a variety of hands-on activities will be set up for attendees. Some of the activities include Redbird flight simulators, welding simulators, and minute-to-win-it games. EAA’s B-17 Aluminum Overcast will be stationed outside of the museum during the event. Weather permitting, educators will be able to climb into the cockpit of B-17 to see one of EAA’s most iconic aircraft from a unique perspective.
Members of EAA’s Education staff will be available during the open house to offer more insight into the education programs available for all grade levels.
“The EAA Youth Education Center allows our team to support educational programs for all K-12 students,” said Paul Maloy, EAA Director of Education. “Hosting an open house allows local educators a great informal opportunity to see firsthand what EAA has to offer teachers and their students.”
The EAA Youth Education Center opened in 2022 and serves as the primary location for EAA’s educational programs for grades K-12 focusing on real-world STEM activities. Some of the available programs include air compressed rockets, wind tunnels, and small RC airplane build-and-fly. Multiple classrooms allow for larger school groups to be accommodated.
